The role:
Reporting to the Manager Credit Operations, the Team Leader Wholesale and Dealer Credit is responsible for leading a team of credit professionals while overseeing wholesale and dealer credit activities across the business. This role plays a critical part in balancing customer outcomes, portfolio quality, and risk management, while driving team performance and operational excellence.
You will be a hands-on leader who provides coaching, guidance, and support to your team while managing complex credit assessments, dealer reviews, risk decisions, and stakeholder relationships.
Reporting to the Manager Credit Operations, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing the Wholesale and Dealer Credit team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. - Managing team workflow, resource allocation, and performance to ensure service levels, turnaround times, and stakeholder expectations are achieved. - Conducting regular one-on-one meetings, capability development, succession planning, and performance management activities. - Reviewing and approving dealer, corporate, and wholesale credit applications, annual reviews, modifications, and extensions in line with credit policies and approval authorities. - Analyzing financial statements, credit risk indicators, and business performance metrics to support sound lending decisions. - Acting as an escalation point for complex credit matters and providing expert guidance to the team and broader business. - Building strong relationships with dealers, customers, Sales teams, and key stakeholders to support business growth and effective credit outcomes. - Supporting system enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and operational efficiencies across the Credit Operations function. - Preparing and contributing to management reporting, risk reporting, and business performance monitoring.Qualifications
Who we are looking for:
We're looking for an experienced people leader with a background in financial services, banking, automotive finance, or a similar credit environment. You will bring strong credit and risk assessment capability, including the ability to analyze financial information and make sound lending decisions, together with proven experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
You are an exceptional communicator and relationship builder who can influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. With strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities, you'll take a proactive, customer-focused, and solutions-oriented approach to delivering outcomes. Tertiary qualifications in finance, banking, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience, will be highly regarded.
