### Tasks Inside the Role The Manufacturing Industrial Optimization Engineer for Transmissions Assembly is responsible for improving the efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness of manufacturing operations by optimizing the interconnected components of production systems. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $86,000 to $110,000 USD. Pay offered is dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include: - Annual bonus program - 401k company contribution with company match up to 6% as well as non-elective company contribution of 3 to 7% depending on age - Starting at 4 weeks paid vacation - 13+ calendar holidays - 8 weeks paid parental leave - Employee assistance program - Comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs - Onsite fitness (at some locations) - Tuition assistance and volunteer paid time off - Short-term and long-term disability plans ### What You Drive - Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance within manufacturing operations - Analyze and optimize production workflows, material movement, ergonomics, equipment utilization, and facility layouts to improve efficiency - Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping methodologies to reduce waste and enhance operational performance - Identify process bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions that improve throughput, capacity, and resource utilization - Utilize data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements and support business objectives - Support facility planning, manufacturing optimization projects, and process improvement initiatives - Develop and maintain standard work, visual management systems, and process controls to sustain performance gains - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement operational excellence strategies and continuous improvement projects ### Knowledge You Should Bring - Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical field - Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant manufacturing, industrial engineering, process improvement, or operations optimization experience - Knowledge of manufacturing processes: 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) - At least 1 year of experience analyzing and optimizing production workflows, material flow and material handling systems, facility layout, workstation design and ergonomics, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency - At least 1 year of experience conducting time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, bottleneck analysis, and throughput improvement projects - Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing data analysis tools ### Exceptional Candidates Might Have - Experience in automotive, heavy manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial production environments - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies ### Where We Work This position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location: Detroit, MI US.
