About the position

Tasks

The Durability/Reliability Test Engineer will lead vehicle validation programs for Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, coordinating on-road and proving-ground tests, analyzing data, and collaborating with design, quality, and global engineering teams. The role ensures trucks meet stringent standards and supports new product and technology rollouts.

  • Plan and execute vehicle reliability and durability test programs, including on-road and proving-ground assessments
  • Coordinate vehicle preparation, instrumentation, and test setup activities
  • Monitor vehicle performance during testing, identify failures or abnormal behavior, and support root-cause analysis
  • Analyze test data and prepare technical reports with findings, recommendations, and presentations for senior management
  • Track test progress to ensure compliance with project timelines and validation standards
  • Conduct meetings with local and global stakeholders to align test objectives and resolve issues
  • Manage test vehicles, spare parts, and related documentation throughout the validation cycle
  • Support benchmarking activities and validation of new products and technologies
  • Collaborate closely with design, quality, and supplier teams to address component and system issues
  • Travel as required to conduct testing at various sites and customer locations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline
  • 3–10 years of experience in vehicle testing, durability, reliability, or validation activities
  • Good understanding of commercial vehicle systems such as chassis, suspension, braking, powertrain, steering, and body structures
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to travel for testing activities
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer, CANape, Diadem, MATLAB)
  • Experience working with cross-functional and international engineering teams
  • Technical curiosity, hands-on approach, and strong ownership mindset
