Inside the Role

This position is responsible for leading a group of automotive suppliers, in providing quality powertrain components in sufficient capacity. This position is within the Global Supplier Management and Material Process Technology department, and will report to the responsible Supplier Management Quality Team Leader. The position offers a starting salary range of $78,000 to $100,000 USD. Pay offered is dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. What You Drive at DTNA

Responsibilities include: - Working with suppliers to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented - Managing timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production - Strategically leading supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability of consistently meeting customer existing or new requirements - Documenting activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution to quality complaints - Conducting supplier audits to confirm product conformity, drive process standardization, eliminate waste, and ensure continuous improvement - Monitoring, communicating, and improving key supplier quality KPIs, including DPPM, Quality Complaints, and capacity to support OTS compliance - Leading or supporting efforts to establish specific short- and long-term supplier quality goals - Championing problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances - Resolving supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply - Interfacing and supporting cross-functional business units on topics related to supplier quality - Overseeing containment actions at the supplier to mitigate the impact of quality issues to Daimler - Domestic and international travel (expected 30–50%)

Knowledge You Should Bring

Skills and qualifications include: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field - 1–3 years of related experience - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and Daimler management - Knowledge of GD&T and MSA - Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports - Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset - Understanding of quality problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5-why, and fishbone analysis - A customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

Additional qualifications include: - Project management experience - Statistical process control experience - Familiarity with engine, axle, and transmission components - Experience with various manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, injection molding, stamping, and forging - Experience working with global suppliers and managing quality across different regions and cultures - Knowledge of a foreign language
