The role focuses on delivering robust, lightweight, manufacturable, and regulation-compliant solutions for global markets while ensuring vehicle safety, durability, and platform standardization.

Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop: - Frame attachments like fender, fender brackets, accessory brackets - Fifth wheel coupling - Catwalk platform - HV safety components positioning and mounting - Rear Underrun Protection Device (RUPD) - Side Underrun Protection Device (SUPD) - Front and Rear Tow Hooks - Mounting brackets and reinforcement structures - Recovery interfaces and associated frame attachments - Develop modular solutions compatible with multiple Mercedes-Benz and BharatBenz vehicle platforms. - Define packaging concepts considering: - Frame architecture and rear overhang - Axle configurations and suspension movement - Body builder requirements - Ensure compliance with global regulations and standards, including: - UNECE R58 (Rear Underrun Protection) - UNECE R73 (Side Underrun Protection) - Regional homologation and customer-specific requirements - Perform structural assessments for: - Static strength and dynamic loading - Recovery and towing loads - Fatigue durability - Corrosion performance - Vehicle integration - Optimize designs for: - Weight reduction and cost efficiency - Manufacturability - Commonality across vehicle platforms - Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs. - Collaborate with global engineering teams, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, homologation, and testing departments. - Support prototype builds, validation testing, homologation activities, and production launch. - Investigate field failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement robust corrective actions. - Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and global standardization of structural safety components. Technical Competencies: - Heavy-duty commercial vehicle chassis design - Structural design of safety components - RUPD and SUPD regulations (UNECE R58 and R73) - Tow hook and recovery load design - Finite element analysis (FEA) - Fatigue and durability engineering - Welded and bolted joint design - High-strength steel applications - GD&T and engineering drawings - DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP - Manufacturing processes (stamping, bending, welding, machining) - Cost optimization and value engineering Key Deliverables: - Production-ready RUPD, SUPD, and tow hook designs - CAD models and engineering drawings - Design release documentation - Structural analysis and validation reports - Homologation support documentation - Weight and cost optimization proposals - Engineering change management and issue resolution Success Measures: - Compliance with global safety regulations - Achievement of durability and strength targets - On-time design releases - Weight and cost reduction achievements - Manufacturing quality and launch readiness - Reduction in field failures and warranty issues - Increased platform commonality and modularity across global products
